TALES OF TINY TOTS
What were the under-5s in our villages getting up to over the summer?
The children have been busy over the
last couple of months playing outside
and using their physical skills to
complete an outdoor obstacle course.
They have been climbing, jumping,
balancing and problem solving as
they went to work out a way to
complete the course.
The children have also been
enjoying the outdoor construction
area, working together to make a run
to transport stones from one place to
another. They used dunker trucks to
move stones, seeing how many
stones they could fit down the
guttering length together, and
counting them as they went to see
how many they had. The children also
talked about the different sizes of the
stones and how heavy they felt.
They have also been busy
measuring volumes, using sand to fill
up different sized containers and
comparing them to see which had the
most sand, and using different tools to
try and scoop the sand up.
The children have also been
exploring colours; finding different
objects to match together to create
different groups of colours in nursery.
The children also discussed what their
favourite colours are and the different
colours of their bedrooms at home.
In September we welcomed some
new children into the setting and we
look forward to getting to know them
and their families better over the
coming months.
