GENERAL INFORMATION
CASTLE BYTHAM
PARISH COUNCIL
LITTLE BYTHAM
PARISH COUNCIL
NEXT PC MEETING (ANNUAL
GENERAL)
NEXT PC MEETING
CASTLE BYTHAM VILLAGE HALL
Wednesday 21st May at 7.30pm
April's Parish Council meeting saw a number of
attendees from Castle Bytham to discuss aspects
of village life that are close to their hearts. As
always, hearing from members of the public is
really helpful in focusing the Council's direction
and discussion and we always enjoy the input!
A number of planning applications were
discussed and comments submitted to the
District Council, whose role it is to determine
the outcome of these applications. The
applications included new house builds,
extensions, tree felling and, interestingly, an
upgrade to an overhead power line! Details of
each can be found on the SKDC website if you
search for Planning Applications.
Due to the ongoing local elections the
county is in purdah – the pre-election period
when there is a ban on publicising anything that
might be interpreted as favouring one political
agenda over another – so not a lot of
information could be brought forward by our
county representatives. However, we heard
from Penny Robins, our District Councillor,
about the UK Prosperity Fund that community
groups can apply to for support.
The Amenities Working Group presented
their report on the village, including a detailed
analysis on works required to improve our Glen
Road recreation ground and bring the play
equipment back to a sustainable standard.
Cllr Kirsty Mclaughlin gave an update on
the village pump renovation works, which we
are all excited to see, and we heard a request for
support from the Youth Club.
Finally, the usual discussions around dog
waste were covered, with additional bins and
bag disposers being sought at the southern part
of the village.

Latest News From The Spinney
I can't quite believe that it's almost a year since The Spinney reopened a er the long closure when we were able to install a whole
range of new play equipment across the site.
Judging by the number of people who con nue to visit The
Spinney and the really posi ve comments you give us, it seems that
the changes we have made have been a great success – which
makes us very happy to feel that the whole project remains a very
worthwhile community asset to the Glenside area.
But we s ll have some more work to do as we want to improve
the driveway to the car park and to re-instate the embankment tree
swing – but for these to happen we must get some new funding. If
anyone wants to help with this, please do let me know.
Two things we have been able to do recently is to put a new
bench and table/bench on the Meadow area which means that
visitors have some more places to sit and rest during their stay. We
could not have done this without the financial support of the Castle
Bytham Midsummer Fes val Commi ee who awarded us funding
from the 2024 event. So, our grateful thanks to the Commi ee.
