LITTLE BYTHAM
PARISH COUNCIL
NEXT PC MEETING
CASTLE BYTHAM VILLAGE HALL
LITTLE BYTHAM VILLAGE HALL
Wednesday 17 June at 7.30pm
Thursday 6 August at 7.30pm
May's Parish Council meeting was a triple header with
the Annual General Meeting, the Annual Parish Meeting
and the monthly Parish Meeting all falling on the same
day.
The first two meetings are a lot quicker and resulted
in me (Mike Brooman) being voted as Chair for another
year, Kirsty Mclaughlin as Vice Chair, and each
councillor voted onto their respective working groups of
Amenities and Planning.
The main Parish Meeting heard representations from
the public about local planning issues, as well as offers
to join the Council.
We heard from both our SKDC Cllr Penny Robbins
and County Councillor Charlotte Vernon. Cllr Vernon
shared information about National Dementia Week and
the support offered by the County Council that can be
found here bit.ly/4uBvA9A
This follows Mental Health Awareness Week and a
day where I was starkly reminded of the challenges
faced by people who are struggling with mental health.
If you are struggling, do speak to someone. You can get
help by texting HOPE to 88247.
From a planning standpoint we heard updates from
the Planning Working Group who shared views on
upcoming planning applications including the
retrospective application to convert part of an
agricultural barn into Class B8 storage, an application to
crown a tree, and also an update on the application for
three houses on the edge of the village on Morkery
Lane.
The Amenities Working Group shared updates on
works underway, as well as giving a date for the next
litter pick in the village – Saturday 13th June 2026 at
11am – and setting off from the shop. Please come along
and help if you have a free hour!
Finally, before my next chance to write in the
Glenside News, we will have all enjoyed the
Midsummer Festival, and so I hope you all have a great
fair, get stuck in helping out the wide variety of teams
where you can, and welcome the hundreds of visitors
who come to our fantastic little village. See you at the
start line of the Castle Bytham 5K Run!
Mike Brooman
Chair of Castle Bytham Parish Council
Please email clerk@castlebythampc.gov.uk with any
issues you wish to discuss.
At the May meeting Cllr Hodgson was voted to stand as
Chair for the coming year and the Councillors thanked
her for her commitment to the Parish.
The draft minutes from the February Parish Council
meeting were approved and signed. The Clerk presented
the Annual Governance Statement (AGAR forms 202526) and the year-to-date accounts to the Councillors for
approval and these were accepted unanimously.
Cllr Hodgkin proposed a third Dog Waste bin be
purchased for the village and located by the public
footpath as you leave the village in the direction of
Creeton. Cllr Hodgkin also advised the Councillors that
the footpath leading from the village to the Primary
School has become obstructed with grass and weeds
making it difficult to manoeuvre buggies, etc. The Clerk
will contact Highways requesting a team to visit the site
and clear it.
An email was received from a resident raising
concerns over the condition of a village property. The
Clerk will endeavour to make contact with the property
owner to request the garden be cleared. If parishioners
have queries on village matters they should contact
clerklittlebytham@gmail.com
Meeting minutes, agendas and other parish
information are always available on the Little Bytham
