Stamford School for a tour of the schools and to
discuss how I can support them. I also recently met
local farmers in Castle Bytham to discuss their
priorities and concerns, and visited Stamford Garden
Centre to meet the owner Chris to discuss support for
the hospitality industry – an issue I raised with the
Prime Minister, highlighting the Bertie Arms in
Uffington.
Locally our unemployment figures are up, and
many businesses are struggling to keep their doors
open. That's why, in January I held my first ever Job
and Careers fair in Stamford. Over 800 people
attended, and it was so lovely, only last week while I
was visiting her new employer, to bump into a lovely
woman who found a new career at the fair!
Nationally, I've been raising residents' concerns
about heating oil prices, Government proposals to
restrict trials by jury, digital ID and calling for under
16s to be restricted from social media. I've also just
returned from a busy 48 hours in Washington DC,
meeting with the US Government at the State
Department and White House on national security
issues.
This is a very fast run-down, and there's lots I
haven't been able to include – so do sign up for my enewsletter too!
Whether you are spending Easter with family,
friends or enjoying the Spring sunshine, I wish you a
wonderful few weeks before my next update to you.
