CASTLE BYTHAM
PARISH COUNCIL
LITTLE BYTHAM
PARISH COUNCIL
NEXT PC MEETING (ANNUAL GENERAL)
NEXT PC MEETING
CASTLE BYTHAM VILLAGE HALL
LITTLE BYTHAM VILLAGE HALL
Wednesday 18th June at 7.30pm
Tuesday 7 August at 7.30pm
May’s Parish Council meeting was a triple header!
It’s that month when we hold the Annual Parish
Meeting, the Annual Parish Council meeting and the
normal monthly meeting. That said, we were still
done in under two hours!
At the APCM, Mike Brooman (me!) was reelected as Chair and Kirsty McLaughlin as Vice
Chair. The officers of the Planning and Amenities
working groups were also elected (Cllrs Goode,
Dugmore, McLaughlin and Sismey-Durrant on
Planning, Cllrs Haywood, Lee and Morrow on
Amenities). Thank you to the Councillors for their
continued faith in me as Chair and for the team for
working so hard during the year for the benefit of
the Parish.
At the normal Parish Council meeting a number
of members of the public attended to raise concerns
or discuss issues. We heard from the Planning
group, who discussed the applications on the agenda
including the extension at 9 Pinfold, and expressed
the Council’s disappointment that the work seems to
be commencing without perhaps having the
appropriate permission.
It’s always worth checking if you need
permission for works, as much of Castle Bytham is
covered by a conservation area where there is no
permitted development, and often even small works,
such as tree removal need permission. Always seek
advice from the planning officers at SKDC.
The Amenities group has been busy with the
new mowing schedule now up and running. We hope
to see a much more frequent cut being done to the
PC-controlled areas, thanks to Micky Johnson, our
new contractor!
The PC also approved quite a few improvements
to areas around the village including a spruce up of
the children’s play equipment at the Glen Road Rec
which is looking a little tired.
Finally, we signed off on the 2024/25 financial
audit, which went smoothly, and our continued
thanks to our Parish Clerk Muriel for her hard work
and support. Hopefully we’ll see many of you
around at the upcoming Fair!
Once again, if you have any thoughts on any
topic you wish to raise with the Parish Council,
please email via the Clerk on

Mike Brooman, Chair
At the Annual Meeting of the PC on 8 May, Cllr
Hodgson agreed to continue to occupy the position
of Chair for one more year.
Matters arising from the March meeting: Cllr
Hodgson to follow up on the visit by the Department
of Environment and River Authorities. Cllr Hodgkin
to follow up on enquiries as to the current owners of
the Willoughby Arms.
Clerk Hatch has contacted the quarry manager
about the lorry traffic through Little Bytham. He
reportedly took the matter very seriously and agreed
to speak to the drivers about reducing speed and
driving carefully.
Cllr Hodgson gave an update on the defibrillator
training. Training sessions for CPR and AED
(Automatic External Defibrillator) have been booked
for June 6th at 7.00pm at LB Village Hall. This
training will be funded by the PC.
Clerk Hatch was asked by all of the Parish
Councillors if he would agree to withdraw his
resignation as clerk of the Parish Council because it
was felt that he would be very difficult to replace.
Clerk Hatch agreed to stay on.
