TALES OF TINY TOTS
What were the under-5s in our villages getting up to in June?
In June at the Railway Children's Day Nursery the
children enjoyed sharing stories about animals, learning
about lots of different species, bugs and birds. The older
children were interested in learning about which animals
are endangered and where different animals live around
the world, as well in sharing stories from their visits to
zoos and farms with their families. The younger children
enjoyed playing with more unusual animals, learning
what they are and what sounds they make.
We also had fun playing in the sand, making different
shapes and comparing sizes and quantities to see who
could make the largest shapes and which ones were
heaviest. The children were also busy painting pictures of
various things, from animals and dinosaurs to their
families. And we also looked at what happens when you
mix different coloured paints together and what new
colours you can create.
We had the soft play blocks out so the children
could work on improving their gross motor skills balancing, climbing and jumping across them.
As we are coming to that time of year again, where
will soon be saying goodbye to our older children who
will be going to school, the children had lots of fun
exploring our school role play. They tried on uniforms,
changed into PE kits and learned to recognise letters
and sounds. Some of the children also enjoyed a visit
from the teachers they will have at The Bytham's
Primary School. They came in to say hello to the children
and had lots of fun building with magnetic shapes and
Duplo while everyone got to know each other.
