NEXT PC MEETING
CASTLE BYTHAM VILLAGE HALL
LITTLE BYTHAM VILLAGE HALL
Wednesday 16th July at 7.30pm
Tuesday 7 August at 7.30pm
What a weekend for our little village!
Another fantastic Midsummer Fair - full of life,
colour and that unmistakable sense of community
spirit. A huge thank you to everyone who worked so
hard behind the scenes to make it happen. You
should all be incredibly proud of what you achieved.
Over the weekend, I spoke to many residents
and visitors, and the feedback was overwhelmingly
positive. There was a warm, family-friendly
atmosphere that really brought the village to life.
Several visiting families mentioned just how
valuable it is that the event remains free to enter accessible to all and truly welcoming to everyone.
That matters.
I imagine the members of the organising
committee are now enjoying a well-earned rest…
before the planning starts all over again.
In Parish Council news, our June meeting
covered a range of important issues including
planning matters, pothole repairs, and grass cutting.
We also welcomed contributions from residents
raising concerns and heard an update from our
newly re-elected County Councillor, Charlotte
Vernon.
One item worth highlighting is the ongoing
consultation on the proposed East to West “Great
Grid Upgrade”, which may pass close to - or even
through - our parish. The consultation is open until
6th August, and further details can be found on page
43 of this Glenside News and here:

As always, I encourage residents to attend our
Parish Council meetings - whether to raise a
concern, ask a question or simply listen in. It's your
village, and your voice matters.
Once again, if you have any thoughts on any
topic you wish to raise with the Parish Council,
please email via the Clerk on

Mike Brooman, Chair
At the Annual Meeting of the PC on 8 May, Cllr
Hodgson agreed to continue to occupy the position
of Chair for one more year.
Matters arising from the March meeting: Cllr
Hodgson to follow up on the visit by the Department
of Environment and River Authorities. Cllr Hodgkin
to follow up on enquiries as to the current owners of
the Willoughby Arms.
Clerk Hatch has contacted the quarry manager
about the lorry traffic through Little Bytham. He
reportedly took the matter very seriously and agreed
to speak to the drivers about reducing speed and
driving carefully.
Cllr Hodgson gave an update on the defibrillator
training. Training sessions for CPR and AED
(Automatic External Defibrillator) have been booked
for June 6th at 7.00pm at LB Village Hall. This
training will be funded by the PC.
Clerk Hatch was asked by all of the Parish
Councillors if he would agree to withdraw his
resignation as clerk of the Parish Council because it
was felt that he would be very difficult to replace.
Clerk Hatch agreed to stay on.
