Celebrating Fr Ed’s appointment
It has been eight years since the Parishes of Castle Bytham, Creeton with Counthorpe, Careby with Holywell
& Aunby and Little Bytham have had a priest-in charge. Hence, Thursday 19th March was a special day, when
The Reverend Father Edward (Ed) Martin became licensed as Priest-in-Charge of all the parishes in a special
service at St James's Church, Castle Bytham.
The service was led by Luke Irvine-Capel, Bishop of Richborough, and supported by his fellow diocesan
clergy. Fr Ed was supported by many parishioners from our local parishes, friends and former parishioners, as
well as his wife, Lesley and his mother, who had travelled down from Newcastle for the occasion. It was
lovely to see that others too had travelled from as far away as Grimsby, where Fr Ed formerly served.
The service provided a fitting acknowledgement of the important role Fr Ed and his wife will play in our
local community. After the service, fizz, canapés and cakes made for a very enjoyable way to celebrate the
conclusion of the eight-year wait!
